At first glance, one would not immediately think that the Dell Streak is a tablet computer. Perhaps Dell added that tablet to its name on a lark? We admit that this did cross our mind because the size is much too close to that of a touchscreen smart mobile. Having a screen that measures 5 inches, one would be inclined to think that the Dell Streak tab is simply the biggest smartphone to date.

The overall size and the screen size are actually two of the things we loved about our Dell Streak tab. While we like tablets to have screens between 7 and 10 inches, it was a delightful surprise that we enjoyed using the 5-inch Dell Streak tablet. We liked the fact that it can fit inside a smaller bag or even a slightly baggy pocket. It truly is portable, as far as tablet computers go. Making calls felt a bit strange at first because it's larger than most mobiles but we think you'll get used to it.

If you get the Dell Streak tab now, you're lucky because you will be able to enjoy upgrade to Android Froyo right away. This OS upgrade will surely make your Dell Streak tablet experience even more enjoyable. You don't have to worry about the tablet being too slow since the 1GHz processor will still be adequate for the OS upgrade.

Even without the upgrade, though, we thought that this tablet performed quite well. Browsing the internet was a breeze and having pinch-zooming was most definitely helpful. Some people may have problems with the small screen size when it comes to web browsing but that's where the accelerometer comes in to save the day. Sure it could use some Flash support but an OS upgrade will take care of most of your browsing complaints anyway.

Unlike a popular tablet out in the market today, we were also quite happy that this Dell device came with a camera. In our opinion, a tablet computer is well worth the money if it has a camera. The fact that the Dell Streak also has a secondary camera for making video calls is a definite plus. Another thing that we like about this device is the presence of Google applications. We don't know about you but we love having access to our Gmail, Google Maps, and even YouTube.

As points for improvement, we can only say that we wish this tablet came with an advanced Android in the first place. Or that is has longer battery life. But since the OS is upgradeable and charging every day isn't that big of a hassle, we can honestly say that the Dell Streak tablet is a great investment. You can use it in lieu of your phone or with your phone, the choice is entirely up to you. Don't mind those people looking at you because you are making a call with a big device; they obviously don't know what they're missing.
