I am a huge fan of Apple products. And yes, I lined up to get my very own Apple iPad 2 but to no avail as I had to order online and collect in store. I have the first generation; it was a perfect little tablet that made me the cool guy around my friends. But the changes they made with this new tablet are incredible. The whole thing is thinner and in my opinion, more beautiful. When it come to features, though, I have no major complaints. I'll tell you, the Apple iPad 2 truly has made my life easier. I have easy access to my emails and the touchscreen display is truly astounding. I love the battery life and the fact that I have great connectivity. If you're planning on getting one, I suggest you choose a unit with both 3G and WiFi. Trust me, getting free WiFi while you're out and about with your Apple iPad 2 will be awesome.
As far as weaknesses go, I have to admit that a better camera would have been handy. But then again, I have my iPhone 4 to take photos with so it's not really a big deal. The Apple iPad 2 is not exactly a device for taking photos. It's a tablet, for crying out loud so I say to the naysayers, stop complaining about it! Go ahead, buy one. I have yet to see Steve Jobs introduce a bad product and this tablet is definitely fantastic.
First of all, I don't get people who always complain a lot about how Apple products are never perfect and are pricey. They forget that not every product that is put out for sale is not exactly for everyone. Some people are perfectly happy with the Apple iPad 2 while others will complain about it to no end. But in this case, more than a million people (and growing by the day) have found the Apple iPad 2 to be a nifty device.
I belong to this group of people. I can go on all day about how great this tablet is but I know you are here to read on individual experiences regarding the product. I am not exactly the biggest Apple fan out there but I must say that this tablet is something else. What makes it a great tablet are the overall fantastic design and very responsive touchscreen display. I also love that I can download just about any app I want in order to make the tablet fit my lifestyle better. From the most useful (Print n Share) to some that are simply for wasting time (Angry Birds anyone?), my tablet got me covered.
So don't listen to those who say that this tablet is limited when it comes to functions or things like that. There are apps that will help you with the lack or USB or things like that. Some people always complain about the tablet not having a great camera but it's a tablet, not a mobile phone or a digital camera. You can still do FaceTime with it. And have fun while doing it, too.
Need to sort flash, camera is no where near as good as the iphone 4.
Personally, I think the Apple iPad 2 improvement are slight from the ipad 1 but I think it's the best of the tablets around by a large margin. Some of the things I love to do on my iPad are play games, check news websites and weather reports (via 3G mostly), go on Facebook and Twitter, and read e-books. FaceTime is great, too. The Apple iPad 2 is perfect for those and more.
I have used this device mostly at home because I find it a tad too big to carry around. Sure I can always boot my laptop to check emails or play games or whatnot but the iPad is for those days when I don't want to get up from the couch. Or I am busy watching TV and I only want to peek at my Facebook wall for a little while. And of course, you cannot beat the wonderful touchscreen display of this tablet. Somehow, navigating using the touchscreen display is always better compared to typing away on the laptop and using a mouse.
So basically, I like that the Apple iPad 2 makes being connected with everyone I love easier. And I can do it in one cool-looking device. .
Some improvements that would be welcome for next generations are a better camera, a USB port, Flash support, an SD card slot, and stereo loudspeakers. For me it is still a long way of perfect, I need a USB Port badly on this!
I needed a device that could help me run my small business and the Apple iPad 2 was it. Don't get me wrong, this tablet will never replace my very reliable assistant but it has seen me through a myriad of situations that could have gone wrong. FaceTime is fantastic for keeping in touch with people. But mostly, I use emails. Since I don't have time to sit down for long periods of time to actually check my emails on the computer, my tablet comes in handy. The GPS support is quite helpful, too. I am not the most geographically able person on Earth. Thankfully, this tablet has helped me get to my appointments on time. I also like that it's light enough to carry around and is quite stylish, too.
When it comes to negatives, I have to admit that the first time I used iTunes, I got extremely confused, this is not an ipad thing more myself and Apple. But its quite easy to learn once you got everything down pat. Also, just like everyone else here mentioned, I could use a better a camera as inside usage is poor and pixals are viewable a lot. Hopefully, they give us at least that for the next tablet. But all in all, I will recommend this device to anyone who asks. It will not replace your laptop, mobile phone, or a an actual assistant but it sure can help you get things done. If you're worried about the price, you can always go for the WiFi only unit but you cant use this in the car for instance.
Love is me and my ipad I spend more time with this device than my family (sad but true this is the world we live in!), when I am with my wife its the ipad sitting on my knee not her! lol My laptop is in laptop heaven (under the bed). If you are thinking about an ipad 2 STOP! Just get yourself down to an apple store and get one and tomorrow you will love it more. Access to the web is only ever a slide of the screen away, no waiting time as the ipad is always live.
No minus points, complain about this device and I feel you need to see a doctor...
I have the WiFi model of the Apple iPad 2. Unlike almost everyone who has this tablet, I purchased this as another entertainment device for the family. This was not a purchase in order to look cool or have the latest trendy gadget around. What I love about this device is that it has a very long list of features that are perfect for keeping the kids occupied. We have games, access to educational websites, movies, and more. In other words, it's a supplement for the television and computer. It sure has helped keeping the kids from being at each other's throats.
As for the ways that the Apple iPad 2 has made my personal life richer, I'll have to say being able to access my emails while out and about (provided there is WiFi, of course), being able to read news wherever I am, and the apps. What I use often are Dropbox, the RSS reader, several news apps, the iA Writer, and SimpleNote.
If you ask me, I see no cons to this device. It's perfect for the way my family and I use it for. I mean it's fine that it doesn't have a camera because we have a camera for taking photos. I also have no beef about the size since we leave it at home most of the time anyway. So all in all, the Apple iPad 2, in my opinion, is a tablet worth buying.
Pros: Beautiful body, light, thin, sensitive touchscreen display. The home button feels wonderful to click. The user interface is beautiful and is fast, too. Going online is a breeze, especially if you have a data plan. Memory is adequate, even if you choose the 16GB unit. Of course, the best thing about this tablet are the apps. I have a long list of favourites and I will assure you that they sure make having an Apple iPad 2 the best thing in my life. GarageBand is awesome. I like iMovie and of course, the Kindle for Apple app. I also like playing games and checking news headlines on this fun tablet.
Cons: Price is kind of steep but you can always save for it. Or get a plan. A USB port would have been great for more connectivity. Sometimes, I find that some apps are not compatible with the larger screen of the Apple iPad 2. Loudspeakers would have been useful, too, for when I'm watching movies. And like most people, a better camera would have been a great addition, too. I know Apple are facetime but the world loves Skyle! Add Skype to this awesome and beautiful tablet.
Last words: Do I regret buying this tablet? Not at all. In fact, I upgraded and will again to the next generation. For me, the Apple iPad 2 is a modern gadget that I cannot live without.
Good Weight, Easy to Use, Thin.
Hate the round function button, playing games i have hit this and disconnected. Indoor use of video camera is horrid and dull, outdoor is not practical as its the ipad is too big for videoing compared to my JVC cam corder. My employers website is in flash, so I cant view it nor submit work. Cant view some video types due to not having flash. Was on B&Q website the other day, could not use the kitchen planner again due to not having flash. Was given a link to a special offer on a website, could not view it on the ipad due to not having flash. Got home and on my pc and the deal was sold out. How, can this be a mobile related 'make life mobile' product if a percentage of the web is missing! Surely this is going back in time? Give me a laptop any day of the week over touch screen ipad tablets! The ipad does not cover smartphone areas, nor laptop areas, nor does it create an area for itself, like I say, no Flash means the product is going backwards not forward.
Let me start this by saying that I am not a big mobile phone person. I can go for days without ringing someone or sending a text. This is why the Apple iPad 2 is perfect for me. This is the only gadget that will fit my lifestyle, which will have to be described as a little bit anti-social. What I love about this device is that it can keep me entertained for hours. The apps are simply fantastic. Almost all of them run smoothly on the tablet. It's also great that I can go online via WiFi and read my favourite blogs for hours on end. As for the looks, I'll have to give Apple 10 stars for the lovely design.
Don't get me wrong, I still do a bit of communicating every now and then. I can do that with my cheap mobile but I also love doing it with the Apple iPad 2. Emailing is easy and the couple of times I've tried FaceTime, it was so bad at all.
Of course, there are a few iPad2 complaints that could use a bit of tweaking. The front-facing camera needs work. An extra port is also needed or should I say a port. While I did not notice the lack of Flash support most of the time, I still say that it should be included in future versions. I also think that an increase in memory via a Micro Card should be added so that we can enjoy up to 64GB of extra memory at a much less price than Apple Charge. But for my joy this is 95% perfect, and in this world that surely makes this one in a million!
Let me start with the things that annoy me about this tablet. The size is not very portable, in my opinion. A 7-inch tablet is perfect for me. The first unit I got had a problematic backlight but the Apple Store took care of it right away. Another thing that I find rather tedious is the absence of Flash support. Some sites I visit utilises Flash and they have no apps. But aside from these, I have to admit that the tablet has a much longer list of redeeming factors.
While I have misgivings about the size, I have to admit that the Apple iPad 2 is a brilliant-looking tablet. I like that it's thin and light and has that very chic minimalist style. I got a Smart Cover for my unit and it sure made the tablet look even more beautiful. It's also fantastic that I can go on FaceTime with this tablet. And of course, the best thing about it is the apps. Not all of the apps you can download are exactly useful but just how many do you need anyway? With the lack of Flash support, it's still great that almost all major websites out there has an app for the Apple iPad 2. I also like that this tablet is fast and offers two types of internet connectivity. High definition video recording is a sweet icing on the cake, too.
Prefer HTC Flyer size, but accept ipad viewing on the longer term is better.
I waited a long time before getting the Apple iPad 2. I was actually considering getting an Android but the prices are the same. But I was able to use my friend's tablet for a little while and I was convinced. The first thing that I loved about this was the looks. Apple products are generally great-looking and the Apple iPad 2 is no different. The things that I love the most and often use on my tablet are FaceTime, the high-definition video recording, eBook reader, and of course, ipod player. The apps are fantastic, it goes without saying. Many apps are free but Buying an app for just 59p is amazing value. Gaming online with my friends is awesome.
Things to improve, a better web camera, USB, a battery that can be replaced easy to enable longer mobile use, this is a wish rather than a complaint.
To help others make an informed decision, I will try to be as unbiased as I can with this Apple iPad 2 review. I think it's only fair to start with the hardware so here it goes... The tablet is one of the most beautiful on the market today. It has that sleek and thin style that many people will find quite appealing. The touchscreen display is also responsive and gives as much view space as a smaller laptop, is better than a notebook. This device is a portable computer with a touchscreen display so the size is just right. It does just about everything your laptop or home pc can. The ipad 2 dimensions are just about perfect. The keyboard is like typing on a standard qwerty.
On the software side, the Apple iPad 2 runs a lot like other Apple products. You have the easy to use interface and processor that is fast enough. Browsing the internet is fast and will be especially more fulfilling if you get the unit with both 3G and WiFi. But your Apple iPad 2 will only become truly great and useful once you have added apps. You have a good number of apps to choose from. There are many games for you to try. Playing them will be quite the experience with the large touchscreen. I will not enumerate the great apps that you can download to your tablet but there is a very long list, trust me.
With the ipad its like a grown up smarphone but much faster and easier to view. It is better than a laptop due to the size, weight and ipad always on mode keeping the tablet live. Battery life is fab and I only need to charge once a week I am on the pad about 2 hours per day.
The ipad 2 is slated for the lack of Flash. For me this is not a problem because the other factors are much more. Price should be no more than £400 for the expensive model and £300 for cheapest. Ability to add more memory with a Micro Card. USB connection would be handy, but not essential now with cloud computing. Excel for iPad would be good but never going to happen due to different companies.
The ipad is about mobile-ability getting out and having the web with you. Gaming on the go is fantastic thanks to the many cheap apps! I have been lucky enough to have been able to use both the Samsung Galaxy Tab and the Apple iPad 2 and let me tell you that there is a world of difference between the two. I will have to give the Apple iPad 2 a more favourable review here because it simply has everything that you will ever want on a tablet computer. Firstly, the size of the screen is just right for me. In my mind, a tablet is a computer and should have the right screen size. Aside from the size of the screen being perfect for me, it's also fantastic that the touchscreen used is incredibly sensitive. And because of this fact, browsing, playing games, and doing just about anything on the Apple iPad 2 becomes much sweeter. You have to admit, playing a graphically-heavy game on a large tablet can be quite a buzz kill sometimes.
Now I admit that this device has its share of limitations. But if you only know how to look, there is most likely an app for that special tablet feature that you're looking for. No Flash? How about getting the app for the websites you love? No USB port to connect to a printer, there is an app for that. You only need to search and before you know it, you will be declaring to the world that the Apple iPad 2 is the best thing since indoor plumbing.
Call me a Geek if you must I love Apple! I got a mac, Macpro, an ipad, ipad 2, ipod touch and an Iphone. my ipad 2 is now a few weeks old and the weight difference and thinness is like huge! I have been in to carphone warehouse and 3 mobile and fiddled with the HTC and the Samsung tablets so I am in a good place to comment. Scoring out of 10 I would give the HTC and samsung 5.
And after looking at them both and having already had the first ipad I could not believe the difference. They are poor. The ipad 2 went on holiday with me, I downloaded 2 films and watched them on the plane going on holiday, perfect quality, perfect battery life. I took videos on holiday, edited them and uploaded them to youtube and facebook with a few clicks! Facetime calls to my family back home was perfect, much better thn skype in the past. Recommend Reckless racing games!
Flash is a very little issue to me. Hate to mention this as I am a huge apple fan.
